More birthday celebrations!

Today is Grandma's birthday! Isn't it great that we were able to celebrate our birthdays together this year? We've had a lot of fun!

We've shared some nice talks....

... and pet my Lucy doggie...





























... and played patty-cake.

Then we went out to a fancy dinner! I was on my best behavior, even though I thought it should be ok to put my feet on the table... Momma said it was ok this time, but normally it is not ok to put my feet on the dinner table. (I think Momma let me because she thinks my feet are so cute!) Grandma helped me drink water out of a real glass!

Birthday celebrations begin

My Grandma and Grandpa are in town from Colorado! Yippee! We celebrated my birthday a little early because their gift for me happened to come in the mail and we couldn't wait!! You aren't going to believe how great it is!

First of all, when a big toy comes in the mail, it comes in a BIG BOX! Yahoo! This is fun!

It is a ROCKING PUPPY!! As soon as I saw this guy, I was so excited!!









I had to give him big kisses right away!








It's a doggie bonanza! I can ride my puppy and pet my Lucy at the same time! I am in heaven.













Thank you, thank you, Grandma and Grandpa, for my fun fun birthday present! It is GREAT!









I also received a birthday card in the mail from my Aunt Elisabeth, Uncle Blas, and cousins, Hanna and Samuel. They live in Spain so this card came a long way to get to me!


























I don't know if you can tell, but when you open the card there is a big raccoon with open arms that kind of pops out and I think it is really funny. Daddy and Grandma read me this card over and over again!




I am going to meet Elisabeth, Blas, Hanna and Samuel this summer. I can't wait!

Another doggie!

I LOVE doggies. Did you know that? I LOVE THEM. The other day Momma and I were playing in my room and she brought out this fantastic doggie! I looked at him and immediately said "dog dog" and now he stays out so I can play with him all the time. He is soft and fuzzy and just my size and I love him. See?




















At the very end of this video you can hear me say "dog dog dog"!!

My honey bear

I have a honey bear that Little G made for me. I love my honey bear. Momma said Little G makes honey bears for lots of babies and I know why! They are GREAT! They have great ears and arms and legs to hold on to and chew! Honey bear sleeps with me and every time I go to bed, I tell honey bear all about what I've been doing during the day. Then when I wake up, I tell him all about my dreams and my plans for the day. Honey bear knows all of my secrets. Thank you, Little G, for my wonderful honey bear!

Swimming!!

On Memorial Day, Momma and Daddy and I went swimming with Owen and Laura and Nick! Man, was it fun! I got to play in my new ladybug float and I learned how to kick my feet!! I've always liked to kick my feet, but when you are in the water, it makes you move around! Cool!






Owen has a float too. His has duckies on it. We played bumper cars in the water.

I know where my toes are. Usually when Momma asks me where my toes are, I'll grab them and say "toes toes toes!". Momma tried to get that on video, but I was a little shy... Maybe another time!







Momma and Daddy went to Alaska one time and Momma bought this little stuffed moose. Now he is mine. I love the moose!

Trash run

This favorite activity of mine makes Momma laugh. Evidently when she used to do investigations, one useful tool that was used is Trash Runs. That means you get someone's trash and go through it. She says you wouldn't believe the great information you can get, but it is a really yucky task! Anyway, I LOVE to go through the trash in our office. I dump over the trashcan and go through everything. It is fun. I love paper!













This particular morning I crawled right into the trash! I had to make sure I got everything...

























I don't know what Momma is talking about. I think it is FUN!

A lesson in yarn

See my shirt? It says "mama is a yarn ho". Yep. That's what it says. And it's true. My Momma loves yarn. She does have a decent stash, but most of it is remnants from projects already created, not yarn for projects that she hasn't come up with yet. It's good to have SOME stash, because then she can make me little projects that don't need much, like my birdie mobile that hangs over my bed. It was made completely out of yarn from other projects. Have you seen my mobile? It is so cool. But I digress. Here is the lesson:

Ok. Let me get organized here.

This yarn is in a HANK. That describes the way it is packaged. It is also a lace weight yarn, 100% wool, hand dyed, from Alaska. Lace weight means it is really thin and you'd probably use really skinny needles when you knit.

Let's see. What else...

This red yarn in my hand is in a SKEIN. It is wound and ready to go. It is a chunky weight yarn and is a cotton/acrylic blend. You would use a bigger needle for this yarn, and it would go fast!

This yarn is in a CAKE. It started out in a hank (see above) but you can't knit with something in a hank, it has to be wound somehow, so now it has been wound into a cake. This is a worsted weight 100% wool yarn that Momma hand-dyed with some friends a while back. This yarn would be great in a felted project (i.e. something that is knit up really big, then thrown into a hot washing machine and it shrinks way down into felt!).

Are you getting all this, wormie?? So what can you tell me about the blue yarn in front of me and the pink yarn by my toes? Yes, you are right, they are SKEINS!!

Good job, wormie. That's your lesson for today.

Genes

Did you know that I have some Italian genes? No, not designer blue-jeans, but genes as in DNA. My Momma's momma (Little G)'s daddy (in other words my great-grandpa) was 100% pure Italian so that makes me 12.5% Italian. That means I was destined to love pasta. My Momma made some bow-tie pasta with tomatoes, spinach, and Italian sausage for dinner the other night. YUM!























































According to Little G, Momma used to get spaghetti all over her face when she ate, too. It's genetic!
