On the swings

You know, I have loved the swings my whole life.  Now I am a big girl and I know how to do the swings by myself but I still like a big push now and then from Momma or Daddy.  I like to swing HIGH!!

Deep in the Heart of Texas

Those of you living outside of Houston may not be aware that Friday was "Go Texan" day.  I am not honestly sure why we have such a day, but it is a big deal here!  Go Texan day is always held on the Friday before the Houston Rodeo starts.  There are trail riders that started riding a long time ago that all descend on Houston on Friday to get ready for the Rodeo Parade on Saturday.  Daddy got to wear jeans and cowboy boots to work!  EVERYONE was allowed to do that.  Everyone as in everyone in the whole city!  I got to wear boots to school too, which is normally not allowed.  I don't have any cowboy boots so I wore my new rain boots and pretended they were cowboy boots!  We had a parade at school and my teacher made us all hot-dogs for lunch!  Yippee!  The trail riders passed right by my school so we ran out to see them and wave at the big horses!  And we learned the song "Deep in the Heart of Texas" to celebrate.  It is a BIG DEAL. (Only in Houston!!)  Momma just shakes her head.  She says Texas is a whole different world than the rest of the country.  I think she is right!

Fairy Tales

Recently, Momma and I got the book Rumplestiltskin from the library.  It is making Momma wonder about fairy tales.  Have you read this one in a while?  I will refresh your memory:  A daddy lies to the king about what his  daughter can do (spinning straw into gold) so the king takes her to his castle and locks her up.  For 3 days, he keeps telling her she has to spin this room of straw and then that room of straw into gold or else he will kill her.  Then after the third time, he decides he may as well marry her so they get married and have a baby.  In the mean time, in order to spin that straw into gold the girl makes promises to this creepy little man and the last promise is that she will give him her first baby.  So then when she has the baby he wants to take it away and she has to figure out his name in order to keep the baby.

Ok, there are so many crazy things here. 
(1) Daddy is lying to the king to get his daughter taken away by the king
(2) Girl is LOCKED UP in a room by the King and told he will kill her if she doesn't do what he wants.
(3) King decides to marry girl because she create gold NOT because he cares or loves her.
(4) Girl promises to give away a baby??
(5) Why does the King have so many rooms filled with straw?

I am sure there are even more issues with this story but this is all I can take.  Of course, I like to read the story over and over again. And then each time I ask Momma and Daddy if the scary man ever came to our house to take me away.  They assure me he DID NOT, and they would never let anyone take me away.  Nor would they have ever agreed to give me away in the first place.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I got to celebrate Valentine's Day two times!  The day before Valentine's Day, my class at school had a party!  It was great!  Momma wasn't so excited though because we sure ate a lot of treats!  For my snack I had a juice box, Cheetos, a cookie, and ice cream.  Then I had a cupcake with lunch!  I was WIRED!  Momma was not impressed.  In fact she talked to some other moms, who all agreed with her, so she told Miss Angie (my teacher) that she would help create the food list for the next party.  There will be ONE treat and the rest will be healthy snacks.  That's my Momma! 

Anyway, I digress.  On Valentine's Day, Momma and Daddy gave me cards and then Momma and I did crafts all morning!  I love crafts.  After my nap, Momma and I went to this little gazebo park in our neighborhood to take some pictures before my tumbling class.  Enjoy!

Momma, the crazy baker

One of our friends at church is pregnant (with a baby girl, yippee!!) so Momma and a bunch of ladies decided to throw her a baby shower.  The whole church was invited!  Momma agreed to make the cakes, since she loves to bake!  Now, if you know my momma, she gets a bit nutty with baking sometimes.  Did she make a simple cake for this shower?  NO WAY.  My momma was baking up a storm and created these amazing cakes.  I had to share these cakes with you.  I know for sure you wish you were at that baby shower so you could have had some.  They were not only beautiful but they were DELICIOUS.  Go, Momma, go!  

The cake on the left is a lemon cake with lemon curd and raspberry filling, with lemon curd butter-cream icing.  

The cake on the right is a chocolate cake with dark chocolate ganache and raspberry filling, with vanilla butter-cream icing.  

All made from scratch by my Momma.  (except the fruit roll-ups for the buckles!)

Am I lucky, or what??
